Default Air intake mods

Hi All, I'd like to modify my air intake to allow more air to pass into the the carbs. I know about the Snorkle from Diamond, but can you also drill the intake box with several holes to accomplish a similar solution. Thanks for all the help, great forum. More snow expected tonight in Boston, that means more fun pulling the little ones on the sleigh... Yup hee..

Check the snorkel impressions post. Someone said they drilled their airbox but it didn't match the performance gain that the snorkel gave. I ordered the snorkel last week, haven't received it yet. I hated shelling out 60+$ for plastic but if it's like they say it is I'll be happy. PS where do ride in eastern MA?

YoeSeaOh, just a note, unless it has changed, it is made out of metal. Mine is. Dont know if that helps you justify $60.00 or not. I thought it was worth it. Don Grimes ( 1BEARMAN) dosent know me from adam but I have talked to him several times in the past and he has been extremely helpful. He isnt one who tries to rush you off the phone, he will help as much as he can. I would pay gladly pay him a little extra to help keep him developing products for our bikes. Just my two cents though. Hope you enjoy your extra power.

I don't have the DiaG snorkel yet (big bux in Canadian $), but the big advantage is you are drawing cold air. I've got holes in the airbox lid but that sucks alot of hot air. Cold air = dense air = more power!!

Has anyone tried removing the airbox lid as well as the body cover and compared that to running the snorkle?
