Default Installed Progressive Springs last night. Got a question...

I typically ride hard and fast and was wondering what everyone who has the Progressives sets the preloads at?
I am just looking for a baseline so I can get her dialed in to my taste.

Were they hard to install?

I weigh 180lbs and ride hard and fast: my preload is 1/3 of the way off the bottom.

I was able to do everything by myself, instructions suggest a helper for spring installation.
Took about 3 hours total with the biggest pain in the butt having to take the front fender off to access the bolts that hold the top of the struts. Make sure you have the correct size socket on an impact gun to remove this bolt, it is huge.
Not hard at all just takes a little time.

Dust, keep us informed as to what this does to your ride.

If I wanted to keep my ride soft like stock, but yet not bottom out as easy, would I be able to do it with these springs?

I've heard a couple of people say that they found the springs ride more harshly, when mine first went on I could hardly tell the difference in the ride. When I got to the first corner I definitely knew something had changed; 75% of the outside wheel suspension dive was gone! I haven't looked back since.

When you hear people say that the best things you can do for the 650 are - tires, P.S. front springs and black sec. clutch spring, they're right on the money!

nyroc, I have only been for a short run with them on. First thing I noticed was no more nose dive!!!
I did not find that they rode any harsher than stock. In fact I used up about half of the preload adjuster making them stiffer.
It feels 100% sportier than before. Cant wait to hit some high speed corners sideways.
Friend of mine with kvf650 said he has to have them as well after driving mine today.

I left mine at the bottom. I am pleased with the change. I didn't like the price too much and I was kind of surprised at the small amount of adjustment possible.
