Bayou 300 4x4 Airbox Lid Modifications
I want get more airflow to my engine to prevent stalling at high speeds. I installed a K&N filter this weekend and it seems to be performing worse. I noticed that on the top of the airbox lid has two "scoop-looking" objects that face the back of the ATV. The bottom of the lid has two rectangular "pipes" that are directly under the "scoops". However there is no opening between these two objects (the scoops & the pipes). It would appear that if an opening existed that air would flow from the scoop through the pipes into the air box. Did this opening exist on previous models? Can I make an opening to utilize the scoops and the pipes? Please let me know if you are familiar with this and have any other suggestions. Thanks.

I figured it out. There were "knock outs" in the scoops. I punched them out and everthing is working great! The K&N really improved the power and I am no longer having hesitation problems at high speeds. BTW, top speed is now 50 mph.
