hole in case on lakota

Default hole in case on lakota

ok im ridin the other night and i notice alot of steam comin from underneath the quad we were ridin in snow and i stop and look underneath the quad jus right in front of the frame bar that runs underneath the quad is a hole right between the case where its put together its not very big about 1\2 inch long and maybe 1\8 inch wide no oil came out of it never cause it would have coated the bottom end my oil level was low still in the sight glass when idling or shut off no oil came out is there a inner case shell or what how should i fix this jb weld the engine sounds normal and the oil in the sight glass doesnt look milky i see gasket material barely sticking out of the hole what do you all think i should do

Dont know if JB weld would hold that hole, sounds like its a pretty good size if it is 1/2"x1/8" It might be time for a new case (or good used one if you could find one, maybe from a salvage quad). Good luck with the repair.

I've had this happen for the 2nd time last week, really sucks, last time I bought a cover for $30 this time I got a free welded one.. putting it together this weekend.. I hope you shut it off on time, last time this happend to me I ran in to more trouble, and had a knock in my engine, this was fixed my boring out the crankshaft.. hope it all works out for ya..

JB weld it. The stuff works really well.
I recently had a problem with my Lakota, where my chain came off and wrapped up in the chain guard where the sprocket is. It develpoed a crack on the side of the case and it was leaking oil. I put the bike on its side and JB welded it. Make sure you read the directions and don't cut corners. It will take a day or two to fully cure, but it will work. The best 6 bucks I ever invested!!
