P650 or 600SP

You guys are really funny.
There is no such thing as the single most important part. You loose any one of them and you aren't going anywhere. For example -- Not enough engine = not enough wheel speed = stuck. Not enough tread = not enough grip = stuck.
As for ground clearance. How did these ATV's ever go anywhere before the IRS came along. They must have just road them on pavement I guess. I just get a kick out of people defending their brands. I think it is great that you feel what you ride is the best. To you it is and that is really what matters.
Do you really believe this??
If so, you are quite naive.
Did you have to change anything on your SP700 to make it do wheelies? My buddy has a SP600 and can't even get close to having the front wheels come off the ground and I know he would like to. Of course the 700 has more power but any ideas.....
It sounds like you have a sporty enough ride for you on your SP700. The Kawi has a nice sporty ride with the brute force needed in a 4x4 utility machine, just like the SP700.
Chaff - One of the key points a friend of mine made on Sportsman's vs. Prairie's is that the rear brakes are enclosed on the Prairie and not on the Sportsman. He said he got sick of changing brakes on his Polaris's and that is one of the reasons he got an '02 Prairie amongst a few others but that was one of his biggest complaints.

, you can change these "inexpensive" tires and still hang your prairie on every rock stump rut or tree root that sticks up more than 6 or 8 inches.

Wow, I hadn't read this post until now. When I see a topic that isn't worth discussing I usually ignore it. I sometimes feel like trying to convince some types of people on these forums is like trying to teach my Brother's dog a new trick - the stupid dog just doesn't get the point. So I just leave the dog alone. I keep a list of names in my head that if I see a post from one of those people, I just skip it and don't read it. I don't consider myself closed minded, but I don't leave it wide open for other people to dump trash into it.
I don't mean to put down some of the honest efforts of some of you guys who are defenders of the truth. But on the other hand I hate to see us all have to explain things to every "Yugo owner with nice tires", or every LT50 rider that talks trash to us. I guess when you are on top, you have to keep putting down the wanna bes other wise the unknowing would assume the wanna bes were on top.
Recently I read some posts of people (including dash) in the honda and other forums, who weren't afraid to stand up for what they believe in, and I felt that they were doing a great deal of valuable service to the ATV populace by telling the truth about the 650.
Therefore, Dash, Lightman, whereisthemud, I would like to praise you for standing up for what is right, epsecially when there are ill forces at work trying to call good evil, and evil good. I like Bosox's comment too. Sorry if I missed some names. I hope I get to shake hands with you someday.
Keep up the good work.

I'll be honest... I hate these type of forums...then again I'm addicted to them because I find it amusing to hear what others say. I try to keep quiet , I try taking the higher road but I don't want to the potential buyer to be mislead by a load of propaganda spewed by brand loyal consumers who believe there band can do no wrong.
If a potential buyer rides machines A, B and C... then decides machine A is best for him... who am I to say he made the wrong decision. He bought whats best for him. I just want to make sure everyone who inquires about the P650 at least gets to take one for a spin. I don't want anyone to dismiss it from hear-say. We all say it...ride em and buy what best for you.
dang, I'm preachy..wheres scootdog when you need him
In the end I'm sure Northstar and I would be good buddies on the trail... I'd just have to wait for him a lot.

That's it, I'm loading my Sportsman on the trailer and heading to the dealer right now to trade it for a Prairie! Then will you guys like me? Seriously, I rode it for a year, had a lot of problems with it initially, but loved the ride and performance of it. Now I'll ride a Prairie 650 for a year and I'll report back to you next February. That seems like the only fair way to do it.

I like the forums actually...yea you have the occasional person come in and regardless of what facts are thrown into the discussion is right because ***place brand of bike here*** is the bike he rides and therefor should be common knowledge its the best. I like the the forums becuz, in this one especially, you run into people like NYROC (HAS BEEN A TUNDRA OF HELP), MSTRBLTR (?), alltoys and others that provide you so much insight into your bike that it increases you ability to enjoy it all that much more...belt precautions, install instructions, what has worked on their quads...you know you always have a pretty knowledgable source of information whether something goes wrong or you want to grab some more of that v-twin potential. You also meet people like Dash, trailblazer (?) and whereisthemud that, if you have a commen sense logic, you can really enjoy exchanges with them on the hobby/sport you like so much.
I am a proud kaw 650 owner and will admit it. But i try to exploit the facts in my discussions that i have picked up from those identified above or through my personal experience/research. I do feel there is alot of good quads out there and the Kawi isnt the best suited for everyone....the power and size scared me at first to be honest. But if a pol 600 or honda ricon fits your riding style and you have a good dealer (i have learned this is very important) working it for you...score, you will be getting a good quad and are in store for a boat load of fun...have to love the sport. The p650 is an outstanding machine and can do practically any type of riding very well...fact is it does alot of things far better then most ... people that ride them know this and have an entire industry and experts to support them on it ... So keep it on the other forums...we know better... we need the time and thread room as we have a CDI to discuss.
