Default Mojave oil

I bought a used 2000 mojave a few months ago and i figured it needs an oil change. I looked in the manuel and it has a few diferent grades of oil listed. So i was wondering what is the most common one used or what you prefer. I dont need any of the high preformance oils becasue i only have a pipe on my mojave.

Well there is no longer a need to pay the dealer an arm and leg for "ATV oil", if you really believe it's necessary to do so. I noticed at Auto Zone that Valvoline now offers their own brand of both 2-stroke and 4-stroke ATV/Motorcycle oil. Yes it's more expensive that their conventional oil but costs several cents less than what you'll pay the dealer. And they off both 10W-40 and 20W-50 blends.

I used Castrol Syntec 10w-40 in my Mojave and that's what I'm going to use in my KFX 400 too.

I just use regular motor oil but if you want to do something special Valvoline Synthetic Blend is pretty reasonable in cost and a little better than regular oil.

im probably going to use valvoline 10w 40 because i have a bunch of it. I wasnt sure if that would b the best choice but since most people use 1ow 40 i dont see how i can go wrong. Is this the same oil that you put in cars or is it a seperate kind?

10w40 will work out just fine. The Mojave doesn't require anything special for its oil, just change it and the filter every 10 hrs and it will last forever.

Really, and that's based on what? Read your owners manual, it tells you what type of oil is recommended nad regular motor oil is just fine. It is common knowledge that a 100% synthetic oil can cause your clutch to slip. hat is why the OEM's recommend regular motor oil.

Does your owners manual say that you need "JASO MA" spec oil? My 01 does and my clutch does weird things if I don't run oil that meets that spec regardless of if it's dino or syn oil.

calm down, i'm just going off of what the dealers told me, that told me that there is something in regular oil that will ruin the clutch in the long run. why would they make special ATV and bike oil if you could just use the regular stuff. to be safe im going to spend the extra few bucks and get the stuff the dealer recomends.
