Default problems with a 98 KX250! plz help!

Hi, ive got a really cool 98 kawasaki kx250, its got a full race kit on it, and limited edition graphics, its a very powerful machine, asoon as you pull the throttle back its on the back wheel and you cant keep it down, the only problem is, it blows spark plugs like it drinks fuel. the other day i rode it for about 2hrs and it blew 2 spark plugs, i put the right oil mixture in the petrol, does anyone know what could be wrong with it? thanks,

Dave

yea, they where both brand new spark plugs, and apparently the dogs bollox, but i rode for half hour, then turned it off for a break, then tried again and it wouldnt start, so i put a new spark plug in and it worked, rode for another half hour, stopped, then tried starting it and it wouldnt work

Are the new plugs getting really black, or are they clean with no evidence of carbon tracking down the electrode? If you didn't have the problem before you may have to change plug brands.

Either your oil to fuel ratio is too high (too much oil) or your using the wrong type of oil. The KX is designed to be driven HARD. If you're idling around alot on the trails, you will foul plugs.

What oil are you using? I recommend Spectro SX synthetic at 32:1 (one bottle to 4 gallons of gas).

As for plugs, what are you using? I would recommend NGK's BR8EG or their BR9EIX. They aren't cheap. The BR8EG is a great plug an will be around $5-6. It uses a specially designed electrode and I haven't been able to foul one. Same goes for the BR9EIX. It is made from Iridium, and is the only plug I run in my banshees. MSRP on it is around $10.

NovaKaw650 nailed it. If you're lugging it around it'll foul the plugs. Ride it hard and keep it in the upper rpm range. I miss my 250

LTZ400racer could be right too, your piston and rings could be slopped out and are letting the oil leak up from the crankcase prematurely. Does it smoke badly? Do a compression check. Don't jump on me guys, a 2-stroke with bad rings can give you the same effect as a 4-stroke with a bad oil ring.
