Just so I understand the rules. We are not allowed to mention the person's name or company that is manufacturing the new cdi?

I have been following this very closely, and this is the first I've heard on the subject. I do not want to upset the moderators.

2. Classified Ads are not permitted in the forums. Please use http://classifieds.atvconnection.com
3. Duplicate Messages--please don't post the same message more than once and in multiple forums.

Brian,

No, that's not the intent. These forums would be very useless and dull if people couldn't talk about products they liked or mention where they got them.

The commercial advertising rule applies to the owner of the company, their staff or their buddies who they contacted to have them advertise on their behalf here (we've seen all the tricks.) In other words, if someone is posting here to make sales, establish brand recognition, drive traffic to their commercial web site, etc...then they must pay for the use of the forums to promote their business.

Don't worry, Nyroc will paste everything about the CDI on his website when it comes out.

Just in case anyone (who cares) is reading, Nyroc is not for profit, and doesn't affiliate with anyone who is.

I'm suprised the moderator(s) all of a sudden come down on this!

The product is not even for sale yet!!!!!!!

Also, without the previous posts, VERY few of us would know of the products by this company!

Even though he volunteered to remove his name, it seems like he didn't even get his first warning up until now. 1Bearman is a very knowledgable person and had some great insight on how to make a 650 run to it's utmost potential, now we've lost that knowledge!

I am a member of other online forums and posting what products worked for them is the best way to figure out what will suit your needs! If we have to now use pig latin to talk about these things then I feel that we are all missing out. There should be a little lieniance, but I will agree that 1Bearman's product got more than normal ammounts of advertising.

Archer,
I have to agree with you.
Up until today if I used the name Bearman the thread was erased. I do not believe the moderators should have total autonomy, or at least leave some posts to refer to on the search engine that is provided. I joined this forum because of the general interest of more intelligent as well as major quadding enthusiasts. You don't see any motor heads giving any vital information over the forum except maybe the odd one say a certain 1 Bearman. Most of these shops like to keep all the hot stuff to themselves so they can sell it to us at a premium price down the road. The next question is, should they be allowed to advertise if this is a nonprofit forum? I have done many things to my quad and I have shared what I have done with many a forum member. Its nice to see the hot rod quad in the magazine the one that cost 20,000 - 30,000 to build. Wouldn't it be great to put one together that will come close to these dream machines and that is what this forum I believe is all about. I have tried talking with some of these hot rod gurus and if you are not in their little group then take a hike. Bearman is probably one of the most forth coming people I have had the chance to talk to and I plan to deal with him now and in the future.

Should advertising be allowed on the forum, I don't think so for myself at least because this is the last place I want to see an add. I purposely pass the adds and go directly to the forums unless of course there is something that I need somebody has told me about. This is getting way off topic but since it has been raised why not let my thoughts find the page. Above all have fun.

Folks, we're looking out for your best interest! If you think about it you'll understand.....you only have 2 choices.

1) Each of you pays a mandatory $20 - $100 annual fee to be a member of the forums and to be able to post and view messages. Then the business' can advertise for free all they want.

2) Business' pay for the forums via advertising and you get to use the forums for free.

Those are your only 2 choices. I'd wager (and win!) that your preference FOR FREE USE is pretty obvious.

Some of you may be saying that if we started to charge a mandatory fee then you'll just go elsewhere. Then what happens is we shut the forum and magazine sites down...all of you go somewhere else. Suddenly the new forum you go to finds out what a forum this size costs to run and then you're back to the same 2 choices--because that's all the other forum has available to them to cover their operating costs. You pay or advertisers pay.

What a tragedy it would be if we had to go to a fee. Think of all the young kids who can't afford to pay to use the forums... Nobody wants that.

We opt to have a free service for you and to have business' pay to use the forums to advertise their product. Its the best business model for everyone because the business' make a tremendous number of sales off of information being posted in these forums and you get the forums for free!

In regards to this instance, there were over 50 forum violations with topics intended as free advertising. It took me over 2 hours to clean things up. I know it means you don't get all the info you might want...but hey...the solution is easy...contact that company and tell them they need to be advertising here so that you can learn about their products. A company who advertises here makes so much money off of increased sales that the advertising didn't cost them anything and they still made a profit. The logic that a company can't afford to advertise here is flawed--they can't afford not to advertise here.

Since this thread has gotten totally off-topic I'm going to lock it.
