Default P650 Fuel Question.

How much do you guys burn when taking it easy?

New to Kawa ATV's, owned many of their bikes in the past.

Just ordered my new P650, Wanted the buggy with the biggest low end GRUNT... Did I choose well?

Default P650 Fuel Question.

It doesn't use any more gas than any other automatic big bore. Something like a foreman 5spd uses less fuel, but your couch uses less fuel and isn't near as fun either. Depends on tuning and riding style.

Congratulations on your first post. Don't be intimidated by any old timers you meet in these forums with large post numbers, or flamers (people who are jealous of your 650 who try to tell you that their other brand is a better quad when it isn't).

The 650 is overall an extremely solid quad. Any quad can take on damage from the trail. The 650 has so much power that it is a good idea to make sure the belt is tight early on, or later on you may find it has worn faster than it should have.

The biggest problems with your 650 are cheesy tires and flimsy black plastic fender trim. We sortof ignore the trim, not a big deal. You will notice most of us has aftermarket tires.

Default P650 Fuel Question.

You picked the best out there right now.
Haven't had a chance to ride mine much yet, but have read on this forum
that you are safe for about 60 miles per tank, don't know what type of riding that is.
I would guess that easy riding would get you more.

Default P650 Fuel Question.

Congrats on your Prairie 650, welcome aboard.
It matters allot in what type of riding you are doing with the P650.
With my P650, the worst I have done was 16.5mpg while in the high Rocky Mountains of Colorado (10,500 ft to 13,000 ft) using low range 4x4 about 75% of the time.
Out here in NM where I live & ride all the time ( 7,500 to 10,000 ft) I get a better 19 - 22 mpg, again it depends on what type of riding I'm doing. No matter where I ride, I always bring along my 3.25gallon fuel-pack strap to the rear rack, as it is very easy for me to cover 90 miles in 1 day.
My buddies Grizzly 660 does better & always seems to get 22 mpg but the Grizz is only one cylinder & his riding is more like "poking" along, very selmon does he really push his 660 hard even with me leading, my avg. wait for him to catch up is about 10 minutes.
If you like to "poke" along, then you too may get 22 mpg but one thing I've learned with the Prairie 650, poking along is no fun on this Monster Sport 4Wheeler 4x4!

Default P650 Fuel Question.

I have gone as far as 80+ miles on a tank of fuel. Granted, I was running on fumes. Fuel mileage seems to really improve above the 500 mile mark as compared to newer machines with less miles. You definitely bought an awesome machine. Anything less is like kissin your sister.
