Default P650 4x4 question.

When I throw the switch is the front end locked in and turning, or is it waiting for the rear wheels to slip like the polaris? I know when I pull the locker it locks the front end... but was unshure about the 4x4?

Thanks

Default P650 4x4 question.

The front axles and diff always turn, no power is transfered until you flip 4x4. You can flip it at any speed since there is no impact. When it is in 4x4, the drive train is locked in and doesn't flip in or out. This is much better in the snow than a polaris system, since it would constantly be flipping in and out and being anoying. 650's handle much better in the snow than a polaris for this reason.

The electronics will engage the drive shaft only between 1.5 and 12 mph.

Do not expect it to shift into 4x4 while you are stopped.

It is stupid to shift into 4x4 after you are stuck, since you run the risk of causing an impact by hitting the gas to get the rear wheels moving long enough for the actuator to shift again. It always causes an impact. This is kindof a different shifting philosophy, but the system works incredibly well if you do it right. I don't let other people ride my machine for this reason. They always wait till it is stuck to flip the switch.

Flip the switch before you get to the bad spot, then flip it back when you get out.
