Is this atv 2x4/4x4 selectable? And also, is this a good atv? As good as the Arctic cat 300?

well assumeing its the same as the 650's front diff set-up, it will lock the rear wheels so they wont slip like they would with a normal non-lockable diff. and no its not 4x4, but they do offer a 4x4 version its just not selectable. clear anything up?

Slip-type differentials are designed to allow one wheel to turn slower or "slip" while the opposing wheel rotates faster when making turns. It eliminates the "push" you feel when trying to make a turn on an ATV that doesn't have it. However, the feature can be problem when you get stuck such that one wheel looses traction. Torque is taken away from the wheel with traction and placed on the opposing wheel where it spins uselessly. By allowing the rear wheels to be located at the differential, both wheels receive equal torque no matter what.

I have a 300 4x4 Bayou. It is a very reliable simple machine. It does not have a selectable 4 wheel 2 wheel drive. It is full time 4 wheel drive. I does however have a high/low semi-auto transmision. In low range it will pull logs or just about anything. For a full time 4x4 it is very 'light' on the steering, you can't hardly tell it is a 4x4 machine.

Yes your reverse cable isn't releasing. You can try cleaning around the cable to make sure grease and grim doesn't have it fouled. You can avoid the shift to reverse by maually twisting the reverse lever back around after putting it in reverse.
