Lakota IDS2, Race or Quiet
#1
How much of a difference in sound level is the SuperT IDS2 Race and Quiet exhaust? I don't race, just enjoy ridin and playing, but have noticed that the Race series appears to be in more abundance not to mention cheaper in price than the Quiet series in the magazine adds. I presume the Race series would probably produce more power also...

With a stock motor, no internal mods, The race series offers no more performance advantage over the quiet series. This is the statement made by supertrapp in the instructions you get with the pipe.
The race series is very, very much louder than the quiet series.
Goto, www.rockymountainatv.com, the pipe is $199.00 for the quietseries.

Thanks Gaff,
I found a SuperT IDS2 Quiet series at www.starcycle.com for $189.95, just don't know the sales history of these guys. There is a SuperT IDS2 Race on e-bay for $119.95 for any who is interested.
Have you noticed any filter by-pass dust while using the K&N filter? I'm toying with wether to go with the K&N cotton pleat style or the Uni/Twin foam style air filter.

I've been using the K&N filters for more than 20 years, have never had a problem with one.
I used the K&N with my stock motor for 6 months with freaquent checks of any dust or dirt getting by, never found any problems. I then pulled the motor down and still found no problems in the combustion chamber. Then I had the 330 kit in with that filter for about 7 months. I pulled the motor back down after I think was about 14 races and god knows how many practice sessions and still found no problems.
I currently went to a clamp on and it's a UNI, only due to I had one on the shelf. Probably replace the UNI with a K&N soon.
I would say go with your gut, but I've never had any problems with K&N.
