What is the absolute best setup for a 2001 kawasaki mojave or all of them for that matter, what would be the best combination of things to either get close to or faster than a stock 400ex (hoping the rider doesnt kno how to ride) just wondering thanx for any input

Id say get the big gun complete exhaust system which is i think 369.99 at rocky mountain. change the jets and modify the air box/filter that will prolly keep a race between u and a 400ex close. u will prolly gain about 10-15 horsepower if u do all that. hope tthis helped, later

10-15 HORSEPOWER!!!!!!!!!!! Okay I am sorry to break the news to you but you are DREAMING IN COLOR MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mojave has race cams, a ported head, clamp on filter, white bros pipe, klr250 black box, wiseco hi comp piston, k&n jets and if I saw even any where near 5hp I am one lucky guy. Well if you dont believe me call four stroke tech and ask Mickey how much hp his 330cc big bore kit will give you and he will tell you that the basic kit will give you 10-12 hp and thats adding 80cc to it which does a lot more than a big gun exhaust with an air box mod will do. Keep it real!!!!!!!!

PickleJuice-On my mojaves setup I think the part that made the biggest performance difference was my cams. But the cams are very expensive and you will need to send your cdi box to FST to get the rev-limiter removed or find yourself a used or new klr250 cdi box which already has no rev-limiter and a more advanced timing curve which helps improve acceleration. The cams are from megacycle and they are billet cams.........brand new. You can send your cams to megacycle or web cam and they will weld them up and grind em down to whatever cam profile you desire. I chose the new billet cams because I didnt want to lose any riding time. The billet cams are $265.00 for the pair. I THINK the hardwelds are around $155.00. You will also need heavy duty valve springs and I'm not sure what those costs since I got mine from www.powroll.com and they had some discontinued springs in there garage sale section that were only $50.00. And I forgot to mention that the FST cdi mod is $85.00 and a new klr cdi will run around $250 but I got mine from a salvage yard for $125.00. Now you may ask me what type of a power gain I got....... well with my pipe and filter and the proper jetting I pull my buddies warriors till about early fourth gear and then they would pull up along side me and then they would eventually creep by and win. After I added the cams and ported the head which was really more of a clean up job on my ports than a real port job I was able to beat my friends warrior(with a powroll 365cc kit with a cam) throughout the whole range. They still had a slightly higher top speed but it took a real long time to get ahead. The cams made the mojave really scream. You absolutely neeed the cdi mod because those cams wake up the mojave where the stock rev-limiter would come on. So basically if you do the cams without the cdi mod you will not notice much of anything. 1st gear is a little more sluggish right off of idle but when you rev her up and shift to second its a whole new bike. It was definetly worth the money and really surprised alot of people with how peppy and fast it is. Hope this answered your questions and if you want to know more just let me know..............................Justin
