Default V-Force vs. Raptor

This one is for VFORCEONE.

As far as I could figure out the 01 and 02 raptors had a 13/40 sprocket setup. Mine is a 03 model and it come with a 14/40 sprocket setup. It will give the Raptor a 5 Mile per hour faster top speed. I also believe it will result in a better setup for drag racing. It might explain why some people say they beat stock raptors and some not. I have never raced a V-Force, so I cannot talk, but check next time when you win a stock raptor what year and sprocket setup they running. Might give you a clue to who to take on and who not to.

For those of you racing against raptors, at what RPM do the guys change gears. Again I have a drag race theory that a stock raptor should not be revved higher than 6400 RMP before changing. The V-force obviously do not have problems like this.

Then 3TV.

You mention to me that the V-Force have a CVT. I always thought they had auto’s

A CVT is considered an auto. But not the type of auto that shifts through gears like a car. I love CVT's by the way they work. The RPM's are always up when it is pulling. Only problem is that the belt does wear out.

Hi RebelDS.

I agree with you completely, hence the question. As far as I know the V-Force has an Auto. Meaning it shifts gears automatically. A CVT has no gears. Its belt driven and do not have specific gear sizes inside the transmission.

This results in the following. The RPM can be fixed at max power output while the speed is constantly increasing. This means no time lost do the gear changes, plus the motor can always be 100% at max power all the time. A CVT will give a bike incredible acceleration.

V-Force has a CVT. I still feel my 01 Raptor is slightly faster than the V but I just installed the EPI pink spring so we'll see now.

BTW, I'm replacing the Raptor with the V-force and having no second thoughts about it. I love this machine.

k man lots of you are talking smack because a raptor will beet the v force in a drag. it is smaller and way lighter like a real sport quad. the v force is like another scrambler. the raptors front comes up like nothin. even in the mud. and if you read dirtwheels they recently tested the v force against raptor against ds650 and the raptor one.

never raced one but everything i've ever read has the raptor winning the drags... and yes in the dirtwheels shootout the ds placed 1st in the drags, then raptor, then 700.
