Default Dumb 650 question

I know this is a dumb one but is the 650 an org. design or is it based on a (to flat out taken) from a motorcycle? If it is from a bike can the CDI be used? Know this one is a dumb one and I should know it but ........
thanks

Default Dumb 650 question

I think the 650 motor was adapted from a motorcycle and not designed from scratch. Either way, I don't think the CDI's would be interchangable. The one on our bike controls many things that wouldn't be on a motorcycle, engine braking, belt failure detection and other items(you get the idea). Even the CDI from the Vforce is not interchangable and that is closely related. I see where you were going with this but I don't think it will work. Sorry.

Default Dumb 650 question

As far as I heard the motor was designed after a 617cc V-twin in a Mule Utility Vehicle. They built the motor for the mule to see how it would work out, then built the Prairie 650 over a yer later. Not positive but that's a rumor I heard when I bought mine.

The 633cc V-twin was an all new design just for ATV's. It's not based on anything.
