Default Kids helmet question

Whats the difference between a moto helmet and a mx helmet.
I realize thats a dumb question but I'm ordering my kid a polaris helmet off the polaris web site and dont (obviously) know much about helmets. Does anyone have a polaris youth helmet. My kid is only 6 and some of the ones that hes tried on in the youth sizes seem really small. I want to get him a youth size just for the weight issue. Thanks

Default Kids helmet question

Hello, Perhaps someone can help you with the differances but I do know as I have experience with this - Find a brand helmet that fits correctly and then if you want to....purchase one from a catalog. This is better than looking atreturn fees or delays in getting a helmet or having one that may fit tommorrow but your child two days later says it is too tight. Just my thoughts, Thanks

Don't mail order that item...it's way to important...go to a reputable shop with a decent selection and have a counter person help you get the right size...if his neck is small I would highly recomend a neck roll(brace)...the 661 brand seems to be a favorite around here. As far as weight goes my HJC(chepo) is acceptable my Fox(middle road)is lighter yet, but my new Thor and HJC(top line)ar extremely light...the materials used makes them lighter/moree expensive

Safe riding to ya

I just got the HJC CL-X4C youth helmet...very light weight. Great fit. Take your lil one to the dealer and fit'em. Then if you want to order online go ahead. just my 2cents.

I've decided not to order on line.
I also like the idea of the 661 neck roll. I just dont like the idea of his neck trying to hold up the weight of the helmet. I guess its on the line of a football helmet neck roll. Thanks guys.

I don't think that there is any differance between the MX neck rolls and the ones made for football... my daughter uses a flat football neck roll that we attached to her chest protector. This last weekend, we also added a football mouth protector to save her teeth.
