Predator 90 maintenance question?
Yankee,
Oiling the regular maintence recommendations are located in your manual. If you don't have a manual, you may want to purchase one from: http://www.purepolaris.com/Listing.aspx?Department=GiftsNovelties(PolarisPGAC atalog)&Category=GiftManuals(PolarisPGACatalog)&Li sting=ATVManuals(PolarisPGACatalog)&MSCSProfile=3C 79F0C7EA3162B2AD2D24472DF6467F664A412BA47C7BF39193 B74D5F191AA0470A257D17F908F6F0590F0A1FBE9EFF7E5CE0 972CA4927B0CB59A87C1623CA2639FBDCB5DE24F520939D586 0728164EA7CA069394B652024EA8957E70EC2E1EC7D9DF1A5A E9A81AD02609BDF3ED7304D51383BB6029E2E52D3026972FAB AB4A
For my '03 Pred 90 unit, I used to use Chain Saw Bar oil. Yes, the thick red stuff (which is great for deep water rides). Now, I purchase a can of off-road spray on chain oil. It comes in spray can form with a long straw. For less wastage, try to use the foam type spray-on type. For us, we oil its chain before and after every ride. After every ride, we power wash my son's unit, let it dry, then apply the oil to the chain. For our riding conditions (re: rough trail riding with lots of mud), we clean our air filter every 4 months. If we did lots of dusty trail riding, we'd probably wash its filter every month (or so).
Hope this helps....

Predator 90 maintenance question?
You can buy chain lube at any motorcycle shop. Its sticky and after its applied it doesn't just fly off like oil will. You can pretty much tell when your chain is getting dirty just by looking at it.My manual recommends soaking it in Kerosene to clean it and then soaking it in SAE 80 or 90 wieght oil.I would just go with the spray on lube though.Spray some on every time its looking dry.I wouldn't recommend WD-40 though as it removes oil As for the air filter I just see how dirty it is when I clean it.If its really dirty then clean it a little more often until you hit a happy medium.

Yankee,
Chain lube is the best. If you want to go cheap, Dollar store Cooking spray.
Things to check,
Frame for cracks, If they do it useually will be at the motor mounts and the swing arm mounts.
Clean out the variator and clutch assy, The unit is not sealed and dust and dirt can get in thru the air over pipe from the fan.
Claean out the stator. Yeah, they get dirty in a hurry.
Clean out your air filter regulary. Use a good air filter oil. No exceptions.
Check your tire rods. If they get bend, don't straighten them, replace them.
Check your oil. Don't rely on the light.
Check the brakes. Especially if you have rear drum. They need the adjustment checked periodically.
If your machine has grease fittings, grease them.
I'm not picking on a model. This is for them all.
