I read on another forum that someone purchased a RedCat and he liked some things on it but didn't like other things. The biggest thing was the "round robin" roatating gear shifting. Something about always having to shift up (or was that down???) to go into the next nigher gear. If you wanted to go into the lower year, you had to shift up (or was that down) many times until you go past nutreal, then work your way back up to the lower gear you wanted. If I remember correctly, he too called it "round robin" shifter gearing. I don't know if this is true but its something you may want to investigate further.
If all you want to do is "putter around a smooth golf course" then a unit with no suspension is ok. My buddy has an on TR-70 quad, which has no suspension, and he does ok with soft tires. For trail riding, racing and aggressive backyard riding, find a mini that has suspension. Even 2" standard suspension is better then nothing at all.
Hope this helps...

660r70,
I sent you a PM a few moments ago. You may want to review before deciding on what brand of quad to purchase.
If I could build a perfect mini-quad, it would have:
- Shaft drive - no more chain maitenance and dirt to worry about.
- 8"-12" of progressive suspension - for our rough trails and jumps.
- Factory wide tires with optional selection of different rubber. re: Turf, Sand Paddles, general.
- Independant rear suspension - like on my AC 500i unit.
- Open disc brakes with both brake lever and foot control - like my AC 500i.
- Optional front light for daytime driving. Removable glass and replace with face plate for racing.
- Full Auto transmissions - especially for first time drivers.
- Electric Start - a must on those extreme hot or cold days.
- Mirror posts for optional mirrors - on both handle bar grip areas.
- +1", 2" or 3"optional A-Arms from the factory.
* For cornering, the wider the better.
- +1", 2" or 3" optional upgrade Swing arm from the factory.
* For hill climbing, the longer the better.
Since all these things cost money and the competition is NOT driving each other to design these items at their respective factory, NO mini-quad "out the door" is perfect.
PS. I know, I dream in technicolor too. Perhaps in a few more years, many mini-quad factories will have the above items in their designs??? It only took 5+ years and head/head competion for many of the above items to appear in adult size quads.
Hope this helps...
