oil ratio Question
I've been mixing my oil at 32:1 with maxima 927. There seema to be alot of smoke more then I like. Oil just drips out the Exhust pipe. Plug is to rich for me I have played with the air screw some but still to much oil in the pipe. I mixed up some 36:1 fuel somewhat better. Is a 40:1 mixture to lean. I run a 40:1 mixture in his Polini x3 works dirt bike, and it revs up to like 13,000 to 14,000 rpm. So I was gonna try some 40:1 in his Arctic Cat 50 quad. I just need some your thoughts.

oil ratio Question
been running 40:1 with absolutely no problems on two machines, with beautiful looking pistons and bores using Klotz, Yamalube, and/or another "special" brand.
check your compression. if the motor can't build enough heat in the combustion chamber (due to lack of compression, etc) then it'll smoke and drip. your "air-screw" has nothing really to do with it- it controls low-throttle-opening fuel mixture (like idle), and more precisely is either called an idle mixture screw or low-speed screw. if your plug is too black i'd make sure your main jet is correct- that'll have the biggest influence on the condition of your plug. |
oil ratio Question
As great of oil as ppl say bean oils are, I can't stand them.
I think 40:1 would be fine I also think I'd switch to Klotz -50, Maxima superblue,Torco GP-7, Amsoil, etc. ...Synthetics My 2 cents |
oil ratio Question
Thanks for the reasurance. I felt that 40:1 would be ok. I run Maxima 927 in all my 2-strokes.Thanks again.
