Where are the courses????
#1
With the recent thrust of "need more mini safety" on this forum, I'm sure many of us are wondering where we can take a Youth ATV training course. Some of us may decide NOT to take a course and some are "on the edge" but don't know who to call. If possible, please post the available Youth Safety Courses and supporting Web sites for as many locations you know of. If we all share this type of info, a few parents on this forum "may" send their kids on one. If they do, then sharing your info was well worth it.....
Thanks for sharing any URLs and / or company names you are aware of.

Thats a pretty tall order - seeing as the majority of this forum is spread out across 50 States and a however many Canadian Territories or whatever they are called. You are in Canada are you not Spike? Are they territories? Are Canadian and US laws for youth ATV operation simular or how are they different?
I would suggest that persons interested in youth ATV safety, regulations and available training classes search out their prospective State DNR to find this information. A Google search on (State name) ATV regulations might be a simple format to start with. I did one on Minnesota ATV training,
In Minnesota you can goto http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/safety/ve...atv/index.html for information on training courses available.

The "legal laws" are very simular in Canada. In reality, it all depends how a kid drives their mini and how it fits them.
I often go riding with a cop and his 14 year old son. This guy is always commenting how good my 9 year old drive is Pred-90 and how "wild" his son drives his Motocross unit. Last year, our local cops waved us through 2 check points and this year, they already waved us through 1. In some parts of the world, cops know that some laws just don't make sence. Putting my son on a 50cc unit would be more dangerious then having him on a 90. Beside that, my local cops don't get into "power trips". If they see "a real criminal", they nail them. If they see someone who is doing the proper "ethical thing", they leave them alone. For example, we have an old age home in our part of town. There's no cross walks and no stop signs. There's a grocery store immediately across the road. The little old men and little old ladies walk out of their old age home and immediately walk across the road. Yes, "big time" J walking. Everyone stops, everyone waves hello. Even the cops wave "hi - have a nice day" to them. Why don't the cops turn on their lights, jump out of their cars and arrest them for breaking the law? Because its unethical to do that. The cops are more interested in chasing the real bad guys and focusing their authority where it's needed the most. The 14/18 year olders with their ATV safety certificates who are doing wheelies down the back stretch of our park. I guess every place in this world acts differently to "the legal laws".... Especially when it comes to mini-quads...
