Default 04 predator 90 gas usage

I just bought a predator 90 for my son. We went riding and it is still on the first tank of break in oil and second tank of gas. It does smoke a lot well more than i think it should. How much gas should this quad use in an hour? He went threw more than a half a tank of gas. Oil went down too. Does anyone know what the adjustments are for the carb? I need to finda service manual. I think its idling a little too high also.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Bob

To obtain a parts visual of the Pred-90 carb, surf: - Press Here - You can only download Parts on Owners Manuals from http://consumer.polarisindustries.co...al/manual.aspx For other maintenance tips &/or upgrade info, check your PM.

For our '03 Pred-90, we can run it for 4-6 hours on a full tank of gas. On average, we run approx 5 hours. Since my little guy starts to fatique around 2 hours, we try to take lots of 15 minute snack & drink stops - which pushes our average riding time into 6 hours / tank of gas.

Hope this helps...

Another thing I forgot to mention...

I've read the '04s have 2 different types of oil injection tanks. I haven't verified this, but have read it twice in 3 other forums. As a proactive suggestion, inspect the upper tabs that support the Oil Injection tank on your '04 Pred-90. If the seat or gas tank presses down on your Oil Injection tank &/or these tabs, the odds are the support tabs will break. Many folks who feel their tabs will break, proactively lower their tabs 1/4"-3/8". Others wait until the tabs break, then reactively lower the tabs. Others have been lucky enough to negociate a different Oil Injection tank from Polaris (so I've read) and others remove their Oil Injection system (and run pre-mix 32:1). This is the only consistant "corrective" known problem I'm aware with the '04 Pred-90 brand.

Hope this helps as well....

Yes i did remove the jumper before the first ride. Today we went out and before we left I turned in the air screw and adjusted it back to 1 3/4 of a turn out.

That did help it with the smoke. I guess i have to wait and see after the first tank of oil is used and when i start using regular polaris blue oil.

Thanks.
