Default LT80 rollers replaced, much better.....BUT...

Got everything together.Replaced all the rollers, the drive face, cover plate, seal,etc.., It seems very tourque-y and spins the wheels real easy on soft stuff.I may have put too much grease in rollers-hard to tell. May have got a couple of spots very lightly greasy in face/belt area, but tried to clean up as well as I could with brake cleaner on the faces.

BUT, based on what folks say here, my top speed still seems 5-10 MPH under what it should be for stock. Top end is rebuilt, 5 thou over on rebore. Carb has been leaned out to top of needle. Any suggestions as to why I'm not quite there? New chain, but it seems really loose. Will that affect speed? There's nothing I can do to tighten it or adjust it anyways. I've seen photos of fishslabs and LT80's chain tensioners, what will that do?

Have you counted the teeth on the sprockets? Your front, if stock, should be a 10 tooth, and the rear should be a 22. I have discovered I can get front sprockets that range from 9 tooth to 18 tooth. (in 1 tooth increasements) And I would geuss the rears would be about the same. Somewhere down the road, someone may have swapped out the stock gears for something else. Other than that, the only other things it could be would be clutch sliiage, or not turning enough rpm's. Ours will run around 35 with stock gearing and 18" rear tires. At one point, we had the stock tires (20") and a 12 tooth front sprocket, and ours would do 40-45mph. (checked with my Sportsmans speedo) I don't know how that compares to anyone elses, but its plenty fast enough for me.

I'll check again, but I'd guess 25MPH. Thanks, I'll check gears. maybe a 12 tooth front sprocket is in the future?? I'd be plenty happy with 35MPH. What spark plug do you guys use on stock?
