What has every one done to there Honda 90?
I just bought one so I am wondering if any one would have any tips on maintenance or performance upgrades or even some little fine tunning tips?
Any problems to look out for?
Thanks for any help in advance.

we had one. never cared for the pull start, but that's just cuz kids were too young to give it a good pull, which made it MY problem. Our front suspension seemed really loose. shake the tire/rim to see how much freeplay you have. I just eye-balled the alignment to adjust it, and it was fine. I also found when we went through water, it swamped really easy, killed engine, and we had to drain the carb to get water out. That and the pull start would be my only 2 beefs. otherwise, it's Honda 4-stroke, so should run good and last forever.
my oil was very cloudy when I first bought it (it was 1 1/2 years used). It was like water had got in there, so i changed it twice and never noticed it again. also, keep an eye on valve adjustment, which is easy to do and explained in the handbook/owner's manual. Oh yeah, and chain lube/tension.
have fun! I saw no reason to mod, that's what the gear shifter is for.

They come with an air intake restrictor, to keep the power tame. A lot of times the mechanic setting it up will take it off, but do check to see if it is there. It is just a plastic cap on the snorkle opening. Pull it off, and throw it away. You can restrict the power using the throtle limiter, if needed.
Never had any problems crossing water, as long as it was below the snorkle. But then, I don't live in BC either, so it isn't like we are crossing water every ride.
There isn't really any engine/frame protection, so I would suggest a light, inexpensive, Maier plastic skid plate. It will help give dad some peace of mind!
It is a tough little bike! My son (age 10) goes EVERYWHERE with me, even places I go on the 4X4! When the going gets tough, we just pick up the little 90, and carry it through! And with the skid, a lot of times he can slide it over the medium size rocks.

Well i went and tried top speed with the pink wire cut and it now goes 40 mph down hill and the 90 we had that did not have the pink wire cut was hitting 34 mph. This all done just by having a 400 AT ride beside us just to give a rough idea of the difference.
On flat ground it hits 37.5 mph.
I could not beleive this, I was truly impressed.
What do the other 90's have for top end ?
Thanks
