Flat trakin at our local fair
#1
My sons had been wanting to race their quads at our local fair, so last night we all went. They were both running the 80cc-100cc class. The track was just a small, flat track. We were some of the first ones there and it looked like it was going to be a real good time. We went looking at some of the other 80cc quads that were coming in and was shocked!! Most of these guys were way out of our class. Is this the way it is at most of the races around where you live? I seen 3 completely stock quads. 1 that had a blaster frame and a cr80 engine, and most of the others had somewhere around 5 grand or better dumped into them. This may be the end of our trying to race. If it takes a second mortgage on the farm to be able to compete. Maybe we'll stick with trail riding. I just could not believe how built these thing were to run at a county fair. To be nosey, for those that race mini quads, how much do you have in them? There was 2 different quads there (80cc) that the owners claimed to have more than 10 grand in them. (they place 1st and 2nd)

You can dump a boatload into mini quads sometimes more than a full size one. You can motocross at alot of places and be competitive with a stock one and have a great time. I know its crazy, but its what some of us do for our kids to have fun at a high level. Podium one in charlestown races quads and looking at the site most of the small quads are pretty much stock so you could run good and have fun. Check out the site at podium1.com or go to robin1grafix.com and look at area tracks and you can go to kentucky and race also.

I know what you are talking about. In the XC series we race in some of the other guys put alot of money into ther quads.I mean alot. I myself have dumped alot of money into a 50 cc quad for just a 6 yr old to race. It takes alot of money to compete. I just spent $300 today into a top head. But when they take the checkered flag and they rip off their helmet and you see a grin from ear to ear what is a little money. If you don't want to spend alot of money run the stock class. My son races drags with his Polini X3 works bike, I spent $3200 for it just to race drags .The way I look at it is like this. If my 6 yr old son goes out there and rides the living heck out of his quad, then I should give him the best stuff to do it with.Heck kids only live once so what the heck. Just this past weekend we raced a MX race against 9-12 yr old 90 cc class. He smoked 4 boys almost twice his age on a 50 cc quad at 6 yrs old. The person who says money can't buy you happiness has never raced mini quads!

Yeah it's like that out here @ our flattrack races also. We bought a blaster about 3 yrs ago & spent about $1500 to get it up to snuff for our son to race. Well we worked our butts off & put a ton of labor & love into it then we take it to the 1st race & couldn't believe how the other blasters were all chrome & modded big time, we were actually disgusted but we figured what the heck "chrome don't get ya home" so he rode it the 1st season & finished 4th overall I think. WEll last year we said heck w/ it & focused on the motor & it was probably the crappiest looking one there but guess what...........................he took the Youth 200cc Championship LMAO it's not ALL the bike it's 90% rider I think so keep your head up & just go out there & HAVE FUN!!! Thats what we tell our boys to do & they do!!
