Default raptor 80 gearing

Corn-fused, We had a Badger and still have the LT. I sold the Badger this past weekend. I liked the badger for starting my kids out on. It was by far the more reliable of the two. I bought it in pieces, and had rebuilt it and ended up with about 800 in it. I sold it after riding it for 3years or so, for 700. Thats U.S. funds ok, eh? My sons like the performance of the LT better and just pefer to ride it. My oldest son has moved on to a 300ex. Thats a Honda, ok, eh? My youngest son seems to fit the LT real well, he is about average size for an 8 year old. My oldest son is tall for his age and looked like a gaint on it, so I think alot of it depends on the kid riding it. Eh?
Corn-fuzed, I'm also a smartazz, so I never took you to mean it bad. So were cool!! Eh?! And by the way, I never noticed it, but Yes I geuss I do end alot of my sentences with eh. Whats the odds, eh?

so we have one canucklehead, and one wanna-be then... so where do we score the points?

Hey, just kidding... I just finished reading an article that compared the raptor 80 to other mini's... and although it did not turn out to be the fastest on any of the young tester's lists, they all seemed to place it on the top of their list when it came to comfort/ergonomics.. And that seemed to rate higher on their lists of what to buy if they had to choose for some reason. I think the reason was it felt a little larger than the others. which was exactly why I bought it for my son. What can I say, he is going to be a gorilla..not fat, just takes after his good old dad...I have a bet going with my brother that he will be 6 ft and pushing 200 by the time he is 15. right now, he is 5'2" and weighs in at 100 pounds.. and he just turned 9 3 weeks ago. going to make Hulk Hogan look small. Can anyone say football scholarship?

I had to take him out of Karate after he earned his red belt at 7, and they started matching him up with much older kids in their teens because of his size. He was too good for the kids his own age...and he was starting to enjoy making them fly across the room with one of his kicks and I just couldn't make eye contact with their parents any longer without getting a big grin on my face. Yeah, you are jealous admit it... The funny thing is thatboth my boys are monsters, (eldest is 6'4" too) but our daughter is short. Barely 5 feet tall. munchkin.. makes me wonder... ouch, the wife heard me thinking out loud... gonna leave a mark dear....(she has my big hands, so I know she is mine)

Thank goodness I am the one with the temper in the family. But get my wife going and she can get real nasty if she wants to... She is the one who removed my son's door and door casing from the wall with one kick.. not me... of course I believe the entire wall would be in serious trouble if I decided to take it down. (wife=1st degree black belt, I am a second degree, but no longer practicing) I know when I have met my match...

And did I tell you that my neighbors around the corner from me are the parents of the one and only Lorena Bobbit? Nuuuuf said... (true, really)

Anyway.. I think the raptor 80 is an excellent machine if you want tank like reliability and a size that kids can grow on without growing out of like they do their clothes and shoes etc....

Is the Badger an 80CC? what year? whadya know about the 100CC champ?(didn't seem they produced it for many years, and i bet parts would be hard to find).

before we had the rap80, we had an '88 Moto 80. It was super reliable, bullet proof...BUT.. NO SHOCKS or suspension, just like mama's '84 Moto 200. we had a choice of the Moto 80, or an LT80. The moto 80 was 4-stroke, shaft drive and better condition, plus cheaper. it seemed like a no-brainer at the time. I paid $1300, did a little fixin' up, and sold it for $1450 6 months to a year later (that's Cdn you hoosier!). that's funny! we always say hoser, you say hoosier.

draggin', why'd ya take all the martial arts training when you can already crush someone's skull with your big mitt? usually it's one of the scrawny weaklings you pummelled that take it to learn to defend themselves for the next time. remind me not to PO you. actually, I will try to get ya going, cuz i figure by the time you reach the northwest you'll have cooled off, and if not, the cold canadian climate will chill ya.

The Badger is an 80. The champs are just like the badgers except they did not have rear suspension, and are 100cc. The motors are the same, Champs are bigger bore. (100cc) You can still get engine parts through most dealers, and the head, jug and piston from a Champ100 will fit on the raptor80. The biggest differences is the lack of 4th gear, and the rear ends. Watch out for the old quads that don't have a dipstick to check the rear end oil!! They are prone to failure!! The badger is the same as the raptor80 just different plastic. As far as that goes, the moto's are the same as badgers except 4th gear and suspension. (or the lack of any)

tcorini, If your looking for more grunt, thats an idea. Get an champ100 top end and put it on your raptor. The champs came with 20" tires and pulled them quite well. I have a buddy that has a champ and I almost took the motor out of it and put it in our Badger. Oh well its gone now. I'm down to a Polaris, Honda and a Suzuki.

Default raptor 80 gearing

Well thanks for all your help. What i was trying to do was raise the first gear and lower the third. we do alot of sand riding and it does pretty good in the hills but first gear is too low and buries the paddles quickly and second gear somethings bogs down up a hill. third gear is useless in the sand unless he is going down hill or a hard pack. The quad does fine in the sand but was just wondering if i could make it a little better.

On dirt the raptor 80 goes plenty fast using third gear. i have an fmf pipe and kn filter. My other son has the predator 90 and its nice to be able to change the gearing depending on your riding conditions.
