Xtrem machine/Polaris Predator
I don't own an Xtreme 90 or even seen one in person but I have noticed the following:
- Xtreme units don't have stator "burn out" problems as much as the Pred-90 brand. On the Pred-90, stator burn-outs / replacement are way too high. Say 20% - 40% range. I've even read posts where some have replaced their stator coils 3 times - in the same unit. Sure hope they got this resolved in their '05 Pred-90/R brand. Only time will tell...
- The Pred-90 has a quicker take-off. Not much, but it is a little better. I read this in a previous post from a person who has both machines. If fastest take-off doesn't matter to you, ignore this one.
- The Pre-90 has high number of frame brackages and Swing Arm brackages. I've seen pictures of their broken frame around their upper rear shock mount and broken stock swing arms. This breakage usually only happens in the tough racing & rough trail conditions.
- The Pred-90 has a tighter turning radius. Not much, but a little better. I read this in a previous post from a person who has both machines.
- Pred-90 and Xtreme 90 have the same chain size and rear sprocket.
- If I remember correctly, you can purchase optional daytime driving lights for the Xtreme.
If you do a search of this forum (and many other forums) on the Pred and Xtreme brand, you'll find a lot less "help me with my Xtreme" type posts - compared to the Pred-90 brand.
They may look the same but in many ways, they are different. If Xtreme brand was available in my area, I would consider picking it over the Pred-90 brand. Then again, my son would pick his Pred-90 over the Xtreme brand.
If you are comparing both brands in order to make a buying decision, consider the above differences before making your final choice.
Hope this helps....
