kfx 50
#1
I asked a question on the Kawasaki page and haven't had any response. I bought a kfx50 for my son in May and have nothing but problems with it. The little rivets in the plastic have all fallen out, The plastic tab broke off where it hooks to the footboard, and now the recoil starter has quit working. My dealer won't offer any help, and says none of these things are warranty items. Kawasaki just told me to take it to the dealer. I don't want to pay the dealers outrageous prices for parts or labor, as I can replace these parts myself, but haven'y had much luck finding a good supplier. I would appreciate any help finding a good source for parts, and any suggestions on an alternative to the plastic rivets. My buddy bought an eton 50 for his kid about the same time and hasn't had any trouble. Our kids ride together, so wear and tear should be similar. I guess I bought the wrong brand.

The 50 has a safety that makes you use the left hand brake to start the motor. Check the adjustment on the brakes and see if it is goung in far enough to let it engage. As for the wrong brand I don't think you picked a bad one for learning on, just sounds like a bad dealership.
Try the Auto parts store for the plastic pieces and take in a old one, I just gave up on the plastic and instead installed bolts with stop nuts.

Thank you for the info. I have adjusted the recoil with the hand brake with no luck. The rope just won't wind back up. I think maybe the case is a little out of true, but haven't been able to straighten it. From what I can tell the case is not available separately, so you have to order the whole assembly.
