.

I would agree 120% with your "lack of good review" comment. Some folks sit in their ivory towers, take a mini on a test ride and pump out their review. Since these are educated folks, they have a way of using "very impressive" words and supporting graphics. Hence, the sale of that specific brand goes up. Yes, many of these same folks don't have kids of their own, or never had the opportunity to repair or upgrade that specific brand. Also, many review folks are influenced by the owner of the magazine, or where they are going to publish their review. Pretty sad in my books.

With all this set aside, if 5 people in each 4 corners of our world did their same "test run & review" on the same brands, each of them would recommend a different mini. Some focus on style, some focus on ease of controls/comfort and others focus on different areas of the mini. I see conflicting reviews even in the adult size quads. Ask each of my neighbours which brand is better and each of them have their own favorite brands. One guy will almost get into a fist fight trying to defend "his perfect brand!!!".

To me, I don't have a favorite brand. Each has their pros / cons and each are sometimes made for different riding conditions. Just like automobiles are made for different riding conditions as well.

As a suggestion, don't focus on a specific brand because "someone says its the best". Focus more on the features of each mini and their respective improvement areas. Stuff like, Disc brakes for mud and high speed stopping, stuff like optional daytime running lights, stuff like suspension, stuff like ease of parts availability. CVT transmissions with open cases don't like water, wide tires are more lawn friendly, deep suspension is great for rough trails, wider base and lower seat usually means less tippy, etc. etc.

I've been told they review minis based on demand. If 6 people want a certain brand tested and 2 others want a different brand tested, odds are they will test the "more demand" brand first. If you want a certain brand tested by these folks, you may want to register on the other forum and send DOC a PM. Doc is a very friendly person to chat with.

Hope this helps....

No problem for the link into that review. It's actually Doc & wildman (and their kids) who perform the reviews. I only provided the link.

That's one thing I like about this and other mini-quad forums. We each try to share info to help one another. Lessons learned to help others (and their kids) is what these forums are all about.
