lt80 quad "DEPERATE - HELP NEEDED"
#1
Please Please Please can anyone help me. We have bought a Lt80 for my neice for christmas who we dont see that much as she lives too far away. Anyway she has come to stay for a few days and we took her out on the quad and to cut a very long story short the quad ended up in the canal. We got the quad to start up but when you try to accelerate it won't move or drive. Please help me i need URGENT help and advice as she is due to go back home on tuesday 4th jan and we wanted to give her a really good day out before she leaves because she has only spent 5-10 mins on it. She is only 9 and really upset. PLEASE HELP.
A very very speedy reply would be great if possible.

Is it new or used? When you sat it doesn't move do you mean it shuts off or it revs but goes nowhere?
My son ended up getting water inside the clutch housing. Which in turn got the belt wet and it wouldn't move. If you take it and let it sit for a while the belt will dry out. If this is the case you'll need to replace the clutch cover gasket.
Hope this helps.

For any of those that dont know, there is a drain plug on the bottom side of the clutch cover. Ours seems to let water in, but it doesn't seem to leak back out very fast. Remove the plug and let it sit running for a short time and it will dry right up.

hmmmn, 9 y/o... put it in the canal.... ?? there's a good story to be told here. BUT, you may want to consider the thumb throttle screw. Basically, it's a screw that you adjust by the thumb throttle, and it limits how fast they can ride by stopping how far the throttle can get pushed. you can let it out when you think they can handle the speed.

I heard Rich Hetrick showed up at the ATV Olympics to show off their dual A-arms. I don't think they have any info about them on their site but you could call them. www.hetrickracing.com They are very good people to deal with.
