Performance tips for the Predator 50 that seem to work well
Nope- I didn't cut off the end of the pipe. Just cut of the tip due to the slight bend in it, and find a bit that diameter that will reach in and bore a hole in the first baffle. That's it.
The performance gain is quit noticable. It is quite a bit louder though.
Anyone else tried this mods? What do you think?

Thanks... will try it on my son's 05' predator 50. A little extra noise I can handle...they are super quiet stock, I can imagine they will sound more like a chainsaw with the baffle drilled out. Want him to be able to keep up with the pack.
I found an aftermarket CDI for the Predator for $50+s&h that removes the rev limiter...needs an after market Pro-Design tether kill switch...the CDI messes with the key and stock tether kill switch on vs. off..., but once I figured out the combo of on vs. off, the CDI allows the motor to rev freely.
Let me know if you want the details on weher I found the aftermarket CDI.
thanks for your input.

I found a cdi w/o rev limiter that for the most part clips right up to my cousins 04 pred 50. The only wire that does not clip right up is the ground and we just ground it to the frame. Cost was $65 plus shipping and it did not mess with the on/off switch and does not require changing the kill switch. pm me and I can provide you a link to the site where I found this part.

Performance tips for the Predator 50 that seem to work well
Has anybody else tried these mods or have other suggestions? My son has an '04 Predator 50. Runs good but does foul plugs regularly and seems to have a problem breathing at the top end. I did order the boyesen reeds yesterday. I have been playing with the idea of removing the oil pump and just premixing the gas and oil. I think I will first see if leaning the carb does anything. As far as drilling the baffle on the exhaust. How far in do you insert the drill bit? Will you feel the baffle and know when you have drilled through it or do just push the bit in as far it goes?
One last questions, has anyone ever tried the Skat Trak Exciter paddles on a 50? We ride regularly on the Oregon Coast. Boy doesn't do long rides on the 50 but likes to play around the parking lot. It does have the power to regularly dig itself in to the chain guard. Will it have power to turn the paddles and will they help?
Thanks

As far as power goes, a pipe and proper clutching does wonders for these bikes in the dunes. A set of paddles wont help a stock piped 50 go up the dunes much better i know it seems like it would help a lot but they cant spin them hard enough or get enough speed to climb. If you want them for the flats then yes they help alot.
