Hi gang. I'm pretty good w/ welding and changing out parts, but when it comes to electrical, well its just not my game lets say. Anyways, my kid left the key on his Kaz 110, and drained the battery. I put a 6 volt charger/starter on it, and got her going, but the next day battery was a little low, so I had to jump her again. I got a few small turns from the starter, then nothing just clicking noise coming from the solonoid(???). Do you think I fried the battery, solonoid, or is it indeed the starter. I know it's impossible to properly diagnose by this description, so just any educated gueses appreciated. If I hit the start switch all I can hear is a load clicking from the solonoid. Thanks for your help.

Are you sure it is a 6volt battery? I would check the batts fluid levels if it is possible, then let it trickle charge overnight. Meanwhile, check all the connections. Corroded connections at the batt terminals or to the starter/ etc. can cause the same symptoms as a very weak battery. Usually what you are describing is a bad battery or connections, an easy fix. Some auto part stores will test your battery for free. Of course, they want to sell you a new batt also.

Thanks guys!! My bad, it is a 12 volt battery, see I told ya electrical is not my thing, lol. Anyways, I'll put a charge on her overnifght and see what happens. Think I'll head to the bike shop and pick up a new battery anyways. In my defense the wrtiting on the battery is in chinese, but I did find a 12V stamped in the bottom of it. Dohhhh!!! I recalled reading something that it was only a 6V system, must of misunderstood it.

Yep, make sure the battery is fully charged, then tested.Next check all connections from the battery to solonoid to the starter. You can short the solonoid across the two terminials if the starter turns over most probaly the solonoid. If not starter may be bad. Starters are pretty easy to repair if its not the armature shorted. Taking the starter apart check the brushes ,clean up the armature where the brushes contact, check the bearings/bushings and a lil dab of grease B4 putting back together. Let us know how you come out!

TimN,
I can tell you by your description that it is the battery. A 6v charge will not charge a 12v battery no matter how long you keep it on. Charge it with 12v and you should be fine. I know these batteries are not the best but I have the same battery in my sons 110's for a year now and they still work fine. How is the Kazuma working out for you? I know you just got it not too long ago.

2many, Really no problems other than the fact I got spacers for it to improve stability, and really my only complaint is the single A arm on this model, BUT, I have a mod in the works to help this involving adding an additional shock and moun t to each arm, sounds crazy, but I think it will work. Other than that concern, it has held up nice. runs dependably, I did lock tite everything after reading everyones advice. I cant wait till Monday to receive the Adult 250 I ordered. I'll let ya know how she goes. Thanks!!!

TimN, a small tip for you. 2 volts per cell. If there is three caps on the battery, it is 6 volt battery. 6 caps = 12 volts.
If it is a sealed battery, then you have to read Chinese!!!
