Yamamoto

New dealer in town, Yamamoto, most of the ATV's are small youth models, has a 350 cc in 2 and 4 wheel drive, inexpensive, made in China. Loooking closely some look the exact same as some older Honda's and Yamaha's, same looking engines too, Here is what the guy told me, don't know if he's blowing smoke or not, he said Yamamoto has been building ATV's and dirt bikes for Yamaha, and Honda for years, they own the right for certain frames and engines that they built for Yamaha and Honda in the past, so the ATV's are the same. Honda and Yamaha has been outsourcing its bikes and atv's to China the same way some of our American cars are made in Mexico and Canada. Now Yamamoto owns some of the disscontinued and a few current models that Yamaha and Honda sell. Thats what he told me, is it true?

Well what he told you is sorta true but I will lean more to the BS side of things. It is true that china does get sorced for quite a few of the big four brands needs. However Yamoto does not build bikes for either honda or yamaha. Most of the engines coming out of china are honda/yamaha/suzuki clones. These chinese manufacturing companys are excellent reverse-enginerers. I could send a honda 450 over there and they would send me back a identical bike if I really wanted them too. Some of the engines are built off of old blue prints that have been sold to various companys over there. That is why the engines look so much like the old hondas. But to really answer your question NO yamoto does not own any of the disscontinued models from yamaha or honda, Yamoto designs are completely one off designs. You are welcome to call Patriot Motorcycle corporation at 949-488-0434, this is the company that owns the distrabution rights for Yamoto and Patriot off-road in the US I think they would better explain their product than this goofy dealer you talked to.

Motof150 that dealer is on crack. Pretty much everything that Brianrider said is true. And for some more information to throw back is that Yamaha sued Patriot/Yamoto for design infringement. Yamoto had to change the design of their quads because they looked exactly like the raptor. They were so close that you can swap parts and you would not know.
