Oil for Giovanni 50cc and 250cc
I am new to the ATV scene and need help. I just purchased a Giovanni 50cc and 250cc and have read that the oil must be changed immediately. Does anyone know what is the best oil to use? Also I read that the valves need adjusting and I was wondering if there is any step by step info on how to do that.
If anyone has any feed back on the Giovanni 250cc that would be great. I am waiting for mine to arrive so doing as much research as possible before it gets here.

HI, I know nothing about the 250 cc. The 50 cc i use Honda 4 stroke oil 10 w 40 $9 a bottle. Complete drain and fill is 1/2 litre. Top up oil and get bike running til warm. Thats when i do a complete oil change, usually lots of fillings in the old oil.
Change the plug ngk cr7 hsa or cr6 hsa. I gap at .027 seems to work.
I messed with my valves and i shouldn't have really. How much power does a 3 yr old need? IT hauled me around fine, just more sluggish on the grass. Since the valve readjustment, way more power on the grass. It's tight to get in there for a proper reading.
I miss read the forum and checked mine and they were not at .006 and .008.What i should have done is take a reading to see where they were before i adjusted them. So i adjusted them and valve noise was really loud. So i was told to go to .004 and .006, still really noise. I ended up at .003 and .003 and seems to be good. Honda manual states .002 and.002 but that is to tight and valves will burn up. That what i have read here. So by the 3rd time, much much faster, still a pain thou.
If you really need a step by step to adjust the valves i could probably help you. I'm self taught from info i got off the web and asking questions here.

I use Esso XD-3 in mine.
I just got it, have about 1-1.5 hours on it.
Thanks much to people here reviewing it, the price and me seeing one in person I decided to do it.
I have changed it to a NGK plug, removed the rubber bumpers on the foot and frame cradle u-shaped bracket and also went with carriage bolts on the bottom to give an extra inch of clearance. I am also making a magnetic drain plug. I leaned the needle all the way but I may have to rethink that after I adjust the valves and check the plug color again.
Also I put on a 13 tooth countershaft sprocket (stock 14t) since we ride in the sand. The older XR50 ones fit perfect. You can get it at any dealer that sells Kimpex parts for around$6CDN.
Once I do the valves I hope to see better low end - especially needed in sand!
