Giovanni 88cc bore kit review


I found an 88cc cylinder and piston with under 10 hours on it on eBay for less than $30US before exchange and shipping. It is a Honda Trail Bikes kit and is made for the XR/CRF50’s. Since I own both an XR50 and a Giovanni quad I sized it up and it looked like it would fit, it did!
The specs say that it takes and XR50 from 2.5HP to 5.0HP.
Ride review:
Way more torque than before. Acceleration is very, very good for even an adult. With me (190lbs) I can do donuts in gravel if I sit forward to unload the rear end. My boys should be much more able to climb hills and get it slowly over rough terrain. Mainly I did it for the initial take-off power as the combo of CVT and auto-clutch made that a problem with only 50cc. Thye haven't tried it yet, but I am sure it will be like night and day. I think I will definitely have to put the throttle restrictor in place now until they can handle the new power. It is quicker than most 90’s since it weighs probably 30-60lbs less that those models. Not bad for $56CDN to my door
