Default gio carburetor

I recently received my gio 50 for my kids and am happy with it. Just checking some things out, and there are 2 hoses on the carb that go nowhere. One seems to be a drain off the bottom of the bowl whuch just leads to an open end on top of the tranny, and the other is about 6" long off the side of the carb which is also open. Can't see any place to connect, unit runs fine. What are these and what do they do?

they are both vents, if your floats stick the top one will vent a bunch, the bottom one has the same basic function it seems to vent more when the bowl is dirty.

Thanks for the info. The other thing I see is that I think it runs great with the choke open, but when it is off, the butterfly doesn't open and the bike just dies. Any ideas?

you mean the choke is closed? the choke should be open when running and the machine will die if its closed, your starving it for air if the butterfly is closed (flooding it)
