Simple Question - not so simple answer !!
#1
I have a 5 and a 7 year old that will be getting 4 wheelers from Santa Claus this year. There is so much good and bad news about atv's, I don't know what is the right decision, so I am going to ask this easy question.
If you were buying a atv for your son (or daughter) today, knowing what you know - What would you purchase around the $1000.00 per atv range? The kids will mainly use it for pasture riding on family acreage and trial riding. (if you are selling these atv's and afraid to post the truth, please send the e-mail to jberry@wmt, I promise to delete your message as soon as I get it)
Second question, I am seriously looking at the Kazuma 110cc Falcon and Baby Falcon for them. This way I can put a speed limit on it now, but in the future it will be big enough for them.
Thanks for any help you can give me,

I think that your on the wright track with the 110 Kazuma. For the price there great starter Quad's. But they are high maintnence. Keep up on A reagular basis with keeping everything tight. and check for crack's in the frame's often.

Yes for the money the Kazuma brand is pretty good. They have been around a long time and have pretty good kids quads. The baja brand from pep boys is nice also. I would stay with baja, kazuma, redcat and some sunl quads. If you buy I highly recommend Raceway. Try to stay away from other ebay brand quads. The ones I have mentioned have been around the longest , most reliable and you can get parts anywhere for them online.

I worry about all the horror stories that you hear on the web today. What are the chances of getting a crack in the frame with the Kazuma 110? If I were to spend a little more, is there a quad out there that is probably more reliable and you don't have to worry about the quad falling apart. I noticed that all the name brand quads run around $2000 and up. Things like cracked frame and bolts backing out makes me extremely nervous. I here all the problems on the Sunl, but I have not heard a lot of problems with the Kazuma brand. Is there really that much difference in the two??
Also, my cousins did not do any research and bought 3 BMX quads. One is a 100cc and 2 are the 110cc. Is BMX the same as SUNL?? I have heard that they are the same atv just different brand names.
I really appreciate this forum, it has helped a lot.

If you aren't afraid of used there are some good deals out there these days for LT80's and TRX 90's. They haven't changed much over the years and parts are plentiful. They are fairly simple, reliable, and bulletproof. Otherwise, you have probably seen the favored off brands recommended plenty around here. I bought a Honda, it was in your price range used. I plan on owning it for at least the next 8 years or so, and by that time maybe I will have a neice or nephew that will be able to use it

I would not be so concerned with what type or how much but, would be concerned with teaching them to ride under supervision. Perhaps the used market in your area may also be a consideration.

No I am not afraid to buy used, but the problem is that there are no used brand name atv's available in my area for less than $1800 a piece. I am worried about buying a used atv that I can't look at first even if it is a brand named atv.

I am not too concerned with teaching them how to ride. They have grown up around my atv and my 7 year old can actually drive it when I am riding on the back (he is very tall for his age). We have plenty of pasture land that they will learn to ride on under very strict supervision ( me and my wife would have it no other way).
