First it wouldn't start. Then it did. Not it seems to be running at about 1/2 speed. I heard some popping/spurttering from the exhaust pipe, then it slowed down like it was going to stall, but did not. It runs, but when I give it full throttle, it seems to slow down. Any idea what this could be?

This unit is a year old, but has hardly been ridden. One battery problem after another. I was told the battery problems had something to do with the electric start/alarm. I keep the battery disconnected when not in use. Today was the first start up in a solid 2 months. What can I do to get this thing to run full speed without sputtering like it's gonna stall?
