Default Have a quick question?

I decided to change the oil on my son's 70cc atv.(see my pictures) Now I think I pulled a NO brainer... I took out the bolt at the bottom of the engine, which looked like a drain plug... BUT.... Out popped a long spring, and a rod... The rod didn't fall out, but was sticking out the bottom of the engine... Can somebody please tell my what that plug is for??? I pushed the rod back up, and put the spring/bolt back in... Then pulled the drain plug beside that one, and continued to change the oil.. Started it up, and everything seems ok.... I just want to make sure I didn't screw anything up... Because I did notice some holes in the top part of the rod that fell down...

The plug with the spring is the chain tensioner. You want the bigger one on the other side.
