Default CARB HELP PLEASE!

i cannot get my atv runing right. i have a komoto 250. i can get it started but the idle is horrible. it changes rpms alot. when i open the choke alittle the motor speeds up to the fastest idle. when the choke is fully closed and the idle pin is adjusted so that the motor sounds like its idling good.. i would gas it alittle and the motor would turn off. there might be a tiny leak. because on the intake manifold that connects to the motor only has one bolt on it. the bolt on the bottom was stripped. so theres a very tiny little gap at the bottom. the only thing with that is the motor was running fine with the stripped bolt. it only started acting like this after yesterday. my motor is a loncin if it maters. help please i wanna ride its so nice outside.

I'd get that gap fixed. You can use a heli coil and a smaller bolt to fix that.

It might have had a decent seal until it got bounced around and the seal is now broken.

Can you hear it sucking? You could also try shoting a little carb cleaner in the gap to see if the idle increases. If it does it us sucking air. If not, the problem is elsewhere.

Sounds like you have an air leak... I would replace the bolt, and you might want to pull the carb, and inspect the gasket to make sure it hasn't moved out of place... Maybe it ran fine, but with all of the vibration etc, it moved thus allowing an air leak????

Sounds like a plan. Be aware that the silicone gasket won't hold forever. Without the second bolt, you're goingto have some sheer force on the gasket material from the manifold moving under vibration, etc. It will eventually break.

A small engine shop (like a lawn mower repair shop) could re-tap the hole for the next size up, or you could tap it yourself, or a helicoil inserts into the hole and you use a smaller size bolt.

I'd either re-tap or have a shop re-tap the hole. They should be able to do it without removing the engine.

That tube is most likely a vent/overflow tube for the floatbowl on the carb. It's suppossed to go nowhere!

Your machine kinda looks like a Roketa.

sighh i spent all day trying to retap hte whole. buying prema coil which is like helicoil but buying the wrong size then returning it and buying the wrong size again. i tried taping the hole but i guess my drilling wasnt precise enough and ended with a bigger hole then i needed for the tap. im just going to use acrylic gel mold and pore it in the hol and stick a bolt int and when it dries screw the bolt out slowly and see if that would work. it prob would because it would be stronger then the epoxy version.

That should hold. The threads in there will help hold the gel in place.
