Hi all, I have a 10 month old Chinese ATV 90. It ran great until a month ago. It sat for a few months do I drained the gas and charged the battery. The battery would not hold a charge. ( I replaced the battery ) The spark looked weak, so I cleaned the magneto. It then ran great for the weekend. It sat again for a few weeks and now it won't start again.

I have charged the battery and cleaned the carb bowl and put new gas in it. Again looks like a weak spark but I am not sure. I put a shot of ether in it to see if it would turn over, but no luck. Any Ideas?

 

have you change the spark plug yet? i'm assuming it a 4 stroke, should take a NGK C7HSA, next do a valve adjustment. then if that doesn't work get back to us

 

I put the plug in my Honda 50 and had no problem starting it. I will check the valve clearance tonight.

 

valve clearance should be .004

 

If the battery is completely dead and I use a charger to try and start it, would the dead battery keep it from starting? ( not enough spark ? )

 

If the battery were shorted internally it might.
