Default Gio 50cc ATV under powered

Hi all. Pardon any repetition found in other posts.

I also just bought one of these bikes and noticed it is somewhat under powered.

It won't climb small hills (4 or 5 feet) with my son on it.

I've read many postings on this issue but I'm not sure which to tackle. I'm not
a mechanic but willing to try anything assuming the instructions are clear.

Let me 1st list my options as I understand them:

1) new NGK spark plug.
2) tweek the valves (what does this mean?)
3) adjust the carburator (running to rich?)
4) clean the carburator jets
4) change the rear sproket

Have I missed any?

Now, which one of these is going to give me the best ' bang for my buck' so to
speak or is a process of illimination? Again, I'm not a mechanic so I'm looking for
some guidance as to which are feasible (easy) and the pecking order I should
follow.

Thanks for all the help.

I won't mention my other missing parts & mishaps. Seems everyone here
has felt the pain ;-)
