Is there anyone who can help with a loose chain. No experience here and no shop for miles and miles. 2005 model. The chain is loose and hitting/sitting on the shock bolt. Is there a way for a newbie to tighten the chain? Thanks for any help, I'm a lady, but I'm pretty good with a crescent wrench. The owners manual isn't worth a toot! If anybody can give me a step by step I sure would appreciate it.

to tighten the chain, their is 4 bolts holding the rear axle housing onto the swing arm, the top two are the pivot bolts, the bottom 2 are the sliders, loosen (do not remove), all 4 bolts, they should take somewhere around 17-18mm wrench, once the 4 bolts are loosen then look on the bottom side of axle housing you will see 2 studs with nuts on them, these are the adjusters, when you tighten the nuts it pulls the axle back, tighting the chain, make sure you turn each nut the same so that the axle doesn't misalign , do not over tigten tighten the chain , you still want appox 3/8" slack in the chain after adjusting. then tighten the 4 bolts back up, youre done.
