sounds like reeds. if it is stock it has metal reeds that hardly ever go bad but i would check that first.

I had same prob on my 90 arctic cat it would spit gas and not run unless air fuel screw was all the way in and it was bad rings so check compression take out plug and see if you have any if valves are good it should push your finger off
