GY6 CDI question
#11
Well, the 4 wire race CDI I purchased did not work. As it turns out, it was an AC fired CDI box. Mine is definitely DC. When I plugged the race CDI in, it started to smoke so I immediately unplugged it and put my stock CDI box back in and the engine ran fine so, fortunately, no damage.
AIRMOBILE, did you purchase a high rev box or did you modify yours to work? In your pics, it looks just like my stock CDI box. Thanks for the info!

You want to make sure yours is a 12vdc 4 pin cdi. With the bike running or not, take a voltage reading to see if any of the wires has 12vdc. If it does, then you have a 12vdc cdi box thats powered from the battery
