lta 50 oil
#2
I ran Maxima Caster 927 pre mixed at 32:1 and was very happy with it. I have been told that there may be a separation issue at low temps though. If your not pre-mixing make sure you run an injector oil. Just be careful with the injector system, because if it fails you may not know it until it's too late.

so hunt,
is the clip in the first groove (that would be the bottom) or the top groove (that would be the top of the needle) right?
my sons 03 lt 50:
.040 off the head
removed both restrictors
uni filter(cut off air box neck, slid filter on it)
65 main jet, removed bottom pilot jet
cut off factory spark arrestor welded on 8 inch pro circuit
w/turn down spout
installed #6 NGK (stock is a 4)
with no tach, it sounds like it gets about 300-500 maybe more rpms.

The top position is the top notch closest to the top of the carb. I have a similar set-up to what you have, just not as much taken off the head, and no modifications to the exhaust other than the restrictor removal and the spark arrestor removal.
I was having issues with it loading up if he had let off the throttle to brake after being wide open, and had played around with the needle position and the pilot jet. I haven't been into it since last summer, but I'm pretty sure that I had put the piggy back jet back in, and may have dropped the neddle clip to the second position.
I'm going to be getting back into the little quad pretty soon. I'm going to hook the oil injection back up before I go to sell it. I just ordered both my son's new DRX70's, so the LTA50 is going.

engine:
seems to make him a little happier!
maybe 500-800 more rpm's could be lower, could be higher.
i know that it is a tick faster, and has a tiny bit more low and mid range.
1 full turn and a 1/8--start there.
hunt:
when took my carb off and checked the needle-stock-it was in the next to
the last groove-toward the bottom of the carb-.
now it is in the last groove-the highest the needle can go-it has a lot more snap
off idle-revs quicker.

Hunt,
Have you ever heard of the back wheels being hard to turn, with the engine off?
I read on another site that "after pulling our sons LT50 back to camp it felt like the rear brake was locked" they took it in and had to "unwind it?"
My sons rear wheels are not easy to turn.
From reading about other 50's this one just does not seem to have as much gettyup.
as others with these mods, wont spin the tires in dirt, not even close to poppn a wheelie. etc.
He has a china made 110 4stroke that is a beast. not comparing the power part of it, however the rear wheels turn very freely.
Any advice/

No I can't say that it, the rear wheels problem, has ever happened to me. As for the performance of the LTA50. A few years ago when I was trying to get more power out of it, I read posts in the forums where people were claiming that the front wanted to come up on it, and that they were going nearly 30 MPH. I don't know what they had done, but I never found that kind of power. I rode beside my son in a flat field, and he he it pinned. The fastest he got up to on the flat was about 18-19 MPH, and he was about 50Lbs. at the time with the mods mentioned. I tried changing the mixture of the fuel all the way to 50:1, but it didn't seem to make a difference, so I started running 32:1 again just to be safe on the motor.
My boys rode alot of different places, County Fairs, local fairs, practice night at the local MX track etc. I got to see all kinds of different quads that I didn't even know existed. I come to realize tha the Suzuki 50 is pretty much a dog compared to others out there. The 2 stroke DRR, Polaris, Dinli, and Eton all had much more power, which I think is due to the clutch design, and the fact that they have a reed cage on the intake where the Suzuki does not have a variator/driven clutch, and no reeds. It is hard to get the Suzuki to spin the rear wheels, while the other brands I mentioned can do donuts all day long. The Suzuki does go good once it gets rolling, it just is weak out of the gate.
CT racing does make a pipe and head kit for it, but I don't know of anybody who has tried it. It may help.
