Default 03 Raptor yfm 80 rev limiter

My son has an 03 raptor yfm 80. Since we have bought it, it acts like it starts hitting the rev limiter at about half throttle. Will not open up. I'e read stuff about bypassing it on the newer models but can' really find out anythi g on his. Anybody got any answers please.

Doesn't sound like a rev limiter issue (you can jimmy up a tach to confirm)...more like a carb/fuel delivery or auto clutch issue...especially at 1/2 throttle...

Does is have a throttle governor perhaps?

Default Raptor 80

I' all ears anything you can tell me how to do will help. It' not the throttle rev limiter. It' kinda an in and out revving sound like it would be bouncing off the rev limiter. Idk if the person I got it from messed with the idle air screw or what happened. Maybe it' more that half thrtottle don' reaslly rememer we haven' crank it up in a while. Got some stuff coming for it and was trying to figure out all I could.

I'd start with the easy stuff...clean the carb really well (inside) and ensure you have a new spark plug in it and that the valve lash is in speck...
