I recently purchased a 1996 LT80. The previous owner had it for a couple years for his son to learn to race on. It appears mostly stock except for a DG pipe and speed gearing kit. He did say that he recently put on a new carb. It starts up and idles great. When my son is riding it, it runs good for about 5-10 minutes and then it begins to lose power then just dies like ran out of gas. After a while it will fire up and run for a minute or two and does it again. Although yesterday, I could not get it started again. I have read on here about the petcock issues so I did purchase a banshee petcock but haven't installed it yet. I did also check the compression and it was 120 psi. The first time he rode it I noticed the oiler line had popped off but it was only off for a couple minutes before I noticed it and put it back on. I was hoping it didn't screw anything up and that's the main reason I checked compression. Could it be a coil/cdi issue?
