I have a Z400, mods listed below. I have a guy interested in trading for a 2002 Speed in almost new condition. Says he got the Speed for his wife but it was too fast for her. I also understand that Dinli has bought all rights to the Cannondale Motorsports division, so parts should be available. What are the values of these bikes? What are your opinions?

Value wise your 400 is worth more.Performance wise its hard to beat a c-dale.

 

Looking at your sig, I think you already decided.... American Made. If that's not the case, I'd keep your Z. Check the resale value of both quads on ebay. C-dales don't do real well.

 

Does the Speed have all of the updates done? How much is your Z worth? The Speed is worth .. I'd say ... 4200-4500 without updates and 4500-4800 with, somewhere in that range. But ... if you are going to be riding it, does having something more expensive make it better? I don't think your Z will give you the same performance without quite a bit of work. That is more $$$. More than anything the question is ... would you like a race bike or a weekend bike? Would you sacrafice some of the dependability of the Z to have the much higher performance Speed? Do you mind changing your oil religiously? Would you like to experience EFI on your quad, with maps that change in a few minutes using a laptop or Ipaq with a $300 kit? Do you hate jetting carbs? Do you never want to do it again? Do you want something unique or close to, or the same bike as 5 of your friends? When you are out riding your Z in a month or 2 and drag race a Cannondale, are you going to wish you would have stepped it up so you could see more of one than just taillights?
