I have a 2002 cannondale cannibal i just bought used and i brought it to a dealer to get some minor modifactions and the mechanic said it was a speed with cannibal plastic. Is there anyway i can tell the difference between the two?

 

If it's really an '02 than it might be an early one witht he Ohlin's, and the guy probably just didn't know. There were alot of little "upgrades" made throughout production, so it's really hard to tell. I think you can tell by the vin, but I'm not sure. How much did you pay for it?

 

I payed 3700 for it and made all the upgrades as soon as i got it stage 8, hose breather update, and the engine mount update kit, and it does have the ohilns all the way around.

 

Is it hydraulic or cable clutch? 500 or 1000 ECU? Also, is the swingarm "boxed" in or open style.

 

It has s1000 computer, magura hydrolic clutch

 

Sounds like a Speed, but it could still be a Cannibal. I'm sure KNOWSALOT or WISTECH would be able to tell, if you had the vin# handy. It doesn't really matter since they all use the same motor and frame, the only difference's were in the mapping, suspension, and amount of accesories on it.

 

Got a pic? Common speed items cannibals didnt have. Speeds had yellow /black gripper seats,tag2 alloy bars,yellow /black handgrips,holeshot tires ,the steering stem should have a mount built in at the bottom for a dampener,keyplate with extra hole for kill switch,ohlins shocks front and rear, 11,500rpm rev limit which it will be hard to bump against.

Common cannibal items, arvin front shocks,fox rear shock,black vinyl seat cover,plastic key holder with black steel bars,trail wolf tires,

I might be able to look it up with the vin # Of course any dale frame/engine can be made into any other model.
With all those engine mods did it get a better crank,waterless coolant,powdercoated valve cover,front engine mount kit? The breather kit isnt vital but helps if you tend to run prolonged high speed with high oil level.

 

I will have pics soon but all those things hae been replaced moose bars and grips, it has the ohlins front back is there any way else to tell?

 

Also the guy claims to have the engine replced

 

Get the vin # off the front of the frame .
