I can't seem to find any consistant information on break-in. The manual says after 1hr. The dealer says 6-8hrs. Not being sure, I had mine serviced after 3.5hrs. Now I'm concerned that I have synthetic oil and the break-in may not be complete. I've heard that synthetic oil will not allow the motor to break-in. Just wondering what everyone else has done. Thanks!

My dealer said 1hr. I changed all the fluids and cleaned all the filters at that time and rode for about another 30min. before I realy rode it hard to see what it had. I again changed all the fluids after about 2hrs. from the first change. This wasn't recomended but I just wanted to be shure. I always change my oil after about 3hrs. I use Yamalube 20w-40 which is what my dealer recomended. I'm thinking about swiching to Klotz, since thats what I use to run in my old quads. Man I could drain that stuff after about 3hrs. and it was still red, looked almost new. All the other oils I've ever used would turn balck or very close to it in about 30min. I done this test before just to see how fast they turns colors.

cannondale has a break-in oil in it. It must be changed after 1 hour or you risk damaging the motor. Synthetic is the best way to go after that.
